OMG where has the time gone! My little babies are six months old.
Owen has taken on a dominate personality.
We are now getting geared up to crawl
We got to try crackers

For comparison
And a few videos...

We know our names
Can you notice what we are doing?
Daddy's lessons on the apostrophes
My dear sweet boys:
It seems like just yesterday that I found out you were coming to me. Then in a blink you were here. We brought you home and have never looked back. The first time you looked into my eyes you stole my heart. Then your smiles made my soul smile. I cant imagine my life without you. It has been a blessing getting to watch you grow. You are now six months old and learning new things every day. It is astonishing how quick you pick things up. Owen you are so strong and hard headed already so independent just like me. Ethan you are such a flirt and so calm and laid back. I am so enjoying watching you develop into little men. I love you more and more each day. I love watching your eyes light up when you see your daddy. It brings me back to when I first met your dad and the way I used to look at him. I could not have asked for better babies when I got you.
love
Mommy

Fathers Day
Yesterday was Erick's first fathers day and the boys had big plans for daddy. Erick got tickets to the Giants game. So for fathers day he got to take his boys to their first baseball game.
In the car and ready to go.
Owen trying to steel Ethan's bib while we picnicked in the car before the game
The game was great. The boys got little certificates for it being their first game. They loved watching all the people. They even took a little nap in our arms. They did not however like when the crowd went wild. This resulted in big pouty lips and a few tears.
At the game
After the game we headed to Erick's choice of dinner locals, Bubba Gumps on Pier 39. This gave a chance for another first for the boys.
First time in a restaurant highchair
While at the restaurant the boys decided they were hungry too so we tried more puffs. here is the reactions
When we noticed this next pic we decided it was time to go
We headed back to the van and fed the boys while sitting in the back. As we fed the boys we got a great view to end a great day.

practice and play
Trying new things is so much fun to watch.
This is the boys playing in their highchairs playing with sippys and puffs. Ethan really liked the sippy and could get it to his mouth. He would suck and chew on the spout but let everything dribble out of his mouth. Owen thought the cup was in his way and was on a quest for puffs. He loves them, He could pick them up in his hands but couldnt figure out how to then get them in his mouth. He screamed til I gave him one. LOL

lessons
Today was Ethan's first lesson with his teacher. He is going to help get Ethan to sit, roll, and eventually crawl, and walk. Jared (his teacher) is a very energetic father of 2 that loves working with kids. He loved Ethan and he will be coming over one hour every week (skipping one week a month so the physical therapist can come) for the next 6 months. He was amazed at the difference in what the report said and what Ethan was doing til he saw that the report was taken almost a month ago. He suggested we get a ring stacker so maybe we need to go to the store this weekend.

How do you do it?
I don't know why that is such an important question. BUT I get asked it all the time. You do what you got to do because it has got to get done. Yes I grocery shop by myself during the day with the boys. Why? because it has got to get done. Boy was I a sight. I would be pushing the stroller and pulling the cart. Trying to get around the people that had stopped (in the way) to look at me. Well those days are over. This is now how we roll at the grocery store.
Yes I used blankets to tie my kids in the cart. Yes it did have belts but my boys are small and the belts couldnt tighten enough for me to feel safe.

Im in trouble
OK we all know Owen is a roller. He has been able to roll both ways for some time now. BUT today he rolled with purpose. He rolled about 3 feet to get a toy. Ethan still doesn't really roll. Both boys have been bringing their knees under them. Well this evening Ethan moved backward about a foot. It is starting and I am not ready. Guess we need baby jail.

Haircuts
I have been saying I wanted to get the boys haircuts because I am sick of people asking if I have a boy and a girl. Well I did the haircuts myself. What do you think?

Adventures in solids
Both boys have always had their own eating style. Ethan chugs and eats his bottle down fast. Owen takes his time and enjoys his bottle taking twice as long as Ethan a lot of the time. When we started solids I thought Ethan will love this and Owen will learn. Boy was I wrong. After 2 weeks of oatmeal and almost a week of sweet potatoes I decided I needed a break because it just wasnt fun for anyone involved. Owen would at least open his mouth and eat some. Ethan would spit out whatever got in his mouth. So I took a break. After a 3 day rest I decided to try again. This time Ethan has learned he can stick out his tongue (with his lips tight), lean forward, taste what is on the spoon, deny eating it and finally grab it so he can finger paint. Owen on the other hand ate almost a whole jar of sweet potatoes. Every time I took the spoon away to get more he was open and waiting. Maybe we will try carrots tomorrow.

Thinking of going private
So there have been some frightening things on the news and chat boards about people stealing things from blogs that belong to others. Because of that I put a tracker on my blog. Well now that has me worried. I have had over 700 hits already this month and 1 comment. So this is your chance to speak up. If you want me to keep public then stop lurking and comment. My decision to go private or stay public will be based on the response. So if you stay silent you are voting for me to go private. The choice is yours. I will let you know in a few days.

Owen's head
We were told to record images of Owen's head in case insurance asks for them. here they are.
A few firsts
One of the best things about being a mom is getting to see all the firsts. So here are a few firsts we had this week.

Weight check
Owen had an appointment today to check his growth. He is now 14lbs 15oz and 25.5in with a 44cm head. That puts him in 50th% for height, 25th% for weight, and 75th% for head. We got the results of the upper GI and they prove he does have reflux (duh!) but because he is maintaining his weight pattern of being at the 25th% she isn't going to do anything for another month but watch it. She looked at his massive flat spot and is going to refer me to a neurosurgeon if insurance approves it because he might need a helmet (first thing she hasn't argued with me about). To help with the approval (should they deny it the first time) she said I should take 5 pics of his head (top and all sides) every month so we can track changes. So once again we are in a waiting game. Waiting to see if he maintains his growth path. Waiting to see if he stops spitting up. Waiting for a referral. Just waiting. They have another appointment (normal 6 month check up and shots) on 7-2. Erick is going to use some flex time and come with us if he can swing it.

Nursery tour
People are always wondering how a twin nursery works in such a small space. Well here it is. The video isn't the greatest but it is what it is. The theme is moons and stars in blue, yellow and green.
The only things in the room are 2 cribs, one dresser, a night stand, a chair and an exercise ball. The chair doesn't rock so I bounce the boys on the ball. Yes the boys are in their crib sleeping at the time I took the video. They will sleep though just about anything.
EDIT: because it was asked the nursery is 11x9, the walls really are white, and it is decals on the walls because Im not allowed to paint my apartment.

baby # 3
Why are men such babies when they are sick? Granted I have never seen Erick puke that much (not even in our crazy college days). BUT men get sick and turn into big helpless babies. I better not end up with 3 sick boys in my house. Wish me luck.
