Potty training

We bit the bullet. This past weekend we decided that the boys were showing signs of being ready. We got some Disney cars undies and decided to get to work. After 1/2 day of trying we noticed that Ethan wasnt as interested/ready as we thought so we put him back in diapers. Owen on the other hand was doing great. The end of day one of training was 2 pee accidents, 1 poop accident and a diaper for nap. Not bad for the first day.

Today's training is not going as well. Owen is teething and not feeling well. He is refusing to eat or drink. If nothing goes in nothing can come out.

101 in 1001 more done

You can always see my list HERE but I am happy to report I got to cross a few off my list.

6.Start planning how to buy a house
No we are not buying now but we are researching and talking to people. We are seeing what our options are and getting out ducks in a row.

28.See a movie in the theater
Erick and I went on a date night and saw Inception. My mom watched the boys and we went to dinner out after the movie. The theater here is showing all movies for $5 on Tuesdays. When Erick got off work I told him he had 5 min to be in the car or I was leaving him. He had now clue of the plan or anything. It was great fun.

33.Transition the boys to big boy beds
As you read the boys are in big boy beds. We need to get them twin beds but for now they are in day beds because their cribs convert. Night time is going great naps are another story.

73.Let the boys touch a starfish
Last time we went to Monterey to visit we took the boys to visit the fish. I think I told you about it. We had the boys on the harnesses. Well they also got to touch starfish. Owen just wanted to splash in the water.

100. Teach the boys to say "I love you mommy/daddy"
I finally heard these sweet words in the car the other day. melted my heart.

Big boy beds

This is what the boys room looks like.

But the last two days Owen has decided to prove that he can escape the crib. Today that resulted in a rainstorm of q-tips all over the room and Ethan getting really pissed that Owen was out and he wasn't. The good news is that the boys cant turn a doorknob. The bad news is they can lock their bedroom door.

So this morning Erick and I talked and decided to make the boys room look like this

Their reaction to seeing the big boy beds...

This is all great except it was HELL getting them to nap today. It took almost an hour for Ethan to get it an fall asleep. 2 hours later Owen was still up. He finally fell asleep on the floor in front of the door so I couldn't get in. Owen ended up sleeping about 45 min and Ethan slept a little less than 2 hrs. We will keep with this and see how it goes.

IUD out

Friday Aug 20th 2010

OMG it is so much easier to get an IUD out than it was to get it in. I just wish they didnt make you sit in the paper clothes by yourself in the tiny room for so long. I personally would rather sit in the waiting room for a little longer rather then sit in the tiny little room by myself, no TV, wearing nothing but a paper vest and a paper lap blanket.

Can I just say I love my OBGYN. He is wonderful. Today he talked to me and calmed all my fears. Then when it came time to remove the IUD he continued to talk and relax me. He asked if I was sure I wanted it out. I told him I was. He responded good because it is out already. It was that easy. He wants me to start metformin to aid in the whole getting pregnant thing. We will see how that goes.

tomorrow

Thursday Aug 19th 2010

Erick and I made the choice to move forward with our family. I havent had many/any people to really talk with this about so I am putting it here and now posting it til later.

Tomorrow I get my IUD out. I have wanted it out for a long time. I have been trying to get it out sense May. I am both excited and scared for this. I am so ready for another baby. I think the boys would be great big brothers. But change is never easy. When change is full of waiting it is even harder.

I dont look forward to the trying part. It takes an emotional toll on the body and mind. I dont look forward to the questions we will surely get when everyone finds out that (one) we were trying and (hopefully two) we are pregnant. People are stupid and cant control their mouths. They tend to say hurtful things before they even know they have said them. We are all the same I have done it too.

Erick is really excited to start this process again. I think in some ways he is more ready than I am. The problem is he doesnt get the looks and the comments.

Ahhhh life is full of challenges.

out and about

This last weekend (yeah I know big delay in posting) we spent at my MILs house. While there we decided to take the boys to see the fish. We have taken them before and knew there were areas that strollers are requested not to go. We made the choice to take the boys on leashes. We have never used the leashes let alone in public. It was very interesting. Here are some pictures.

Ok so I know this next picture is horribly out of focus but the face Owen made as the shark swam past is just to good to pass up.

Cheese and chairs

Today is a jammy day. The boys are teething and not feeling well. They are dripping snot and have a touch of the runs. All this is normal teething stuff that I hope to be over soon. Despite all this they are still very funny and extremely cute (when they are not destroying things).

This morning I got out the camera (something I have been bad about lately). I also got out these folding chairs that grandma got them. The two things combined made for cuteness (at least for a few min). I dont know where they learned it but the boys said "cheese" when they saw the camera.

101 in 1001 #88

You can always see my list HERE but I am happy to report I got to cross a few off my list.

I have tagged all my blog posts so they are easily searchable. Now I just have to tag each post as I write it.

I do not want to have to tag like that again.

19 months

This last week my little monsters turned 19 months old. It hardly seems right. My math must be off. They can't be 19 months already.

Thursday Grandma came to stay the night. After dinner we drove around looking at houses. It was interesting. Early Friday morning we took off to the state fair. It was nice out when we got there. Not busy at all. The boys rode in their little buggies and loved it. We walked all the through everything and looked around. Got the usual looks and questions about twins. It was a great day. We left the fair after 5 hrs with boys who needed a nap. They started to drift in the car but didn't really get into deep sleep. Just as we were getting into town they both work up but I had snacks so they were happy. We once again looked at houses (in another area). Shortly after we got home the boys ate and went down for the night. Whew it was a long day.

The boys are getting faster with their climbing and more coordinated. Ethan has no problem getting on the kitchen table. He can even pull the chair out. Owen is skilled at getting behind the couch. He has even mastered lowering himself over the back feet first. At this point I am really amazed they haven't tried to get out of their cribs yet. Erick and I know it is just a matter of time and are starting to plan big boy beds.

Naps are nearly always just one a day. Thank goodness they are still 3-5 hrs so I can get things done.

Owen has started telling me bye bye and leaving a room or pushing me out of a room. The problem with that is as soon as one of us leaves he comes running to make sure I am still there or banging on the door and crying for it to be opened (even if he is the one that closed it).

In 5 short months the boys will be 2. I can hardly believe it. We are already starting to plan their birthday party. I know it sounds like we are getting a little ahead of ourselves but I don't think we have a single free day in December at all. So for right now the boys party is being planned for December 4th.

Oh I should mention before anyone gets to excited that no we are not buying a house. We are not near ready to buy a house but it is fun to look. Before we can buy we need to get rid of some of our student loan debt.
